After two months of negotiations the University of New Brunswick and the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT Group 2) Contract Academic Employees are pleased to announce they have reached common ground on a tentative set of proposals for a new Collective Agreement.
“We are pleased to have reached an agreement,” says Dr. Daniel Coleman, Chief Negotiator for UNB. “This is only our third contract with this group, so we had to spend some time working the bugs out.”
Both the AUNBT and the University approached our bargaining with a problem-solving mentality based on mutual respect. My negotiating team and I appreciate the AUNBT’s professionalism and desire to continue to work together to further improve UNB’s learning and working environment”
“This agreement will help improve the working conditions for Contract Academics at UNB,” says AUNBT’s Chief Negotiator Arthur James.
“We are happy to say that the negotiations were conducted in a respectful and constructive atmosphere, with both teams treating each other’s concerns seriously.” Mr. James adds that with this approach the parties will be able to carry out the significant work which remains to be done.
This tentative agreement is subject to ratification by the AUNBT Group 2 membership and the UNB Board of Governors
