AUNBT/UNB Contract Arbitration Settled

FREDERICTON, SAINT JOHN, MONCTON and BATHURST, NEW BRUNSWICK (September 30/14) — The Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) would like to announce that last night they received the ruling from the Arbitration Board that had been tasked with resolving the outstanding issues of the contract negotiations between their full-time members and their Employer, the University of New Brunswick. Members of the full-time bargaining unit received the news shortly thereafter.

“We are very pleased to have the ruling,” said AUNBT president Miriam Jones. “It has been a long and difficult year for our members and it’s good to be able to cross one item off the list as we look ahead.” Dr. Jones was referring to the UNB Board of Governors’ plan to revise the UNB Act, the “prioritization” exercise recently announced by President Eddy Campbell, and the recent report on the roles of senior administrators at UNB.

“It’s an exciting time to be at UNB,” Dr. Jones continued. “Our members are engaged and invigorated and we look forward to working with all those in the UNB and wider communities who want a vibrant and thriving provincial university in New Brunswick.”

The ruling can be found here.

This is clearly a win for AUNBT. Congratulations Miriam and to all of my colleagues at UNB!
