Stopping enrolment for Bathurst Nursing

Nursing programme to be phased out

Members will likely have heard the news in the media that the employer intends to phase out the nursing programme on the Bathurst campus.

As of yet, there has been no announcement from the administration.

AUNBT has several concerns, which we will raise with the appropriate parties over the forthcoming days and weeks.

We note that there is an online petition addressed to President Campbell urging him to reconsider his decision.

Was this phase out approved by the Nursing faculty and the UNBF senate?

I believe the Dean of Nursing is visiting the F’ton Senate tomorrow. Don’t know what process the Faculty has gone through.

The decision was made by the VP Academic, he directed the Dean to begin shutdown of our site. We were shocked and we’ve been told that the Dean and Associate Dean argued to keep us but to no avail. Apparently the formation of the site didn’t have to be approved by Senate so, closing it is thought to be the same. Needless to say, we, the faculty, will be fighting this in anyway we can and would appreciate any support.
